Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
4) And final, you don't get it and thats ok:

Because in that technological era he was in a team on the decline, often putting out the fourth or fifth fastest car on the grid and sharing resource and energy between two World champs in their team. He took a step back to take a significant steps forward in a team that would not only back him but would listen to him and take things in another direction.

All f1 drivers are fast, capable drivers, even the ones driving with Daddies money are otherwise they wouldnt be allowed because people would die.

The greats hone and improve the natural talent, lead and lift the team and show flashes of genius that no one else on the track, on that day could do.

Hamilton is a great. He might be a pretentious wanker at times, but I overlook that because helmet on he is sublime.

4) why did Lewis Hamilton not win a world title between his first in 2008 and his second in 2014?

Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
Retract your acceptance. It wasn't offered.

I am not actually a Lewis fan, I would say I would prefer Lando or George to be doing the winning but when someone is bashing him incorrectly, I am happy to indulge in a debate.

1) I suspect he was overdriving the Mclaren to get occasional race wins and keep it on the podium and we disappointed in their lack of strategy nous and were a spent force due to the ramifications of Stepneygate.
2) Vettel won his championships by being fast, not being a racer. He would get pole, slam in some early laps to get track position and let the racing go on behind him. Where he couldn't do that he often came unstuck. He also had the team backing him and not his team mate.
3)Because Russell is a great driver, getting more than he should out of a Willams and is on retainer by Toto Wolff. Would Latifi or Mazepin or Giovanazzi be able to jump in and do the same? I suspect not.

Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
apology accepted

Now, if you'll emerge from under your Lewis Hamilton bedspread for long enough, please answer the following questions:

- why did Lewis Hamilton leave McClaren?
- why did Sebastien Vettel win four championships in a row from 2010 to 2013, and is now an irrelevant also ran?
- why was George Russell able to be winning a race one week, and qualifying in 18th the next?

Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
Actually they said Hamilton was 'predominantly' to blame. meaning both drivers were partly culpable but Hamilton moreso. Had they thought Verstappen was completely 'innocent' they'd have labelled it 'wholly' Hamilton in their naming convention. No one with any objectivity thinks it was on purpose.

essentially it was a game of brinkmanship where neither driver backed out of a move. Two into one doesn't go and almost always the driver on the outside comes off worse. Verstappen showed some naivity in sticking with the move. At the very worst he only loses out on 7 points rather than 25, and the chances are he overtakes later in the race anyway. Incidentally they were in an almost identical situation in Saturday's race on lap one at the same corner with Hamilton on the outside. He sensibly backed out of it.

Also, Verstappen has been in the 'Hamilton' position on more then one occasion in the past and very uncompromising about it, going so far as to label the other drivers idiots and retards.

Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
They identified a percentage of fault in a racing incident and applied a penalty, happens at almost every race.

That is a World away from cheating and can be distinct from running off the road.

Been watching for four decades and competed in local kart competitions in my 20s before money and family stopped play.

Final thought. Verstappen is the best modern exponent of getting the inside line, getting alongside and then leaving the steering open to force the opponent to make the decision to back out or leave the track. Is that forcing off the road or race craft?

Block 3:42 Thu Jul 22
Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
I don't pretend to know a lot about the "sport". But what he did was cheating hence the time penalty he received.

Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
That coming together was a racing incident.

It wasn't cheating.

stewie griffin 3:40 Thu Jul 22
Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
The stewards identified him as being responsible and gave him a ten second penalty

It’s a leap of extraordinary arrogance to suggest that you know more than they do

Stewie,

You didn't say cheated you said Run him off the track.

Which is cheating.

Not retracting anything.

Block,

You do know enough about motorsport to call it cheating and neither does Stewie, because if you did you wouldn't make the statment.

HTH.

Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
I don't like him, I think he's a pretentious prick with a cunt of an accent.

But there's no doubting his abilities.

He cheated, he knew he cheated and if it were the other way around he'd be crying like a bitch about it.

El Scorchio 3:13 Thu Jul 22
Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
'he resorted to cheating to get Max Verstappen(SIC) out of the race, the cheating cunt.'

No he didn't, but carry on. There's no way the contact was deliberate. Hamilton was braking and Verstappen's back wheel ran into the rear of Hamilton's front wheel. Most people agree it was a racing incident and the penalty was given because the aftermath looked spectactular.

it's easier just to flat out say 'I don't like him'.

Block 3:02 Thu Jul 22
Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
Let me just clear up a few things.

There's no doubting Hamilton is probably the 2nd greatest f1 racer of the "modern era", but he had been massively helped by having the best cars.

Not surprising that in a season where Red Bull has a car to match him, he resorted to cheating to get Max Verstappen(SIC) out of the race, the cheating cunt.

You joined late and you are you so let me simplify for you with four questions:

Was it the fastest car when he moved to them?
How did he get the seat in the first place?
What is his record against his team mates?
Could anyone on the grid get in that car and match his performance?

El Scorchio 2:29 Thu Jul 22
Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
No-one is disputing the Mercedes is better than the Williams, which was the worst car on the grid last season.

Actually Russell didn't routinely qualify at the back of the grid. His average start position was 14th including 3 12th places, which is a massive overachievement in the worst car. He's a fantastic driver who will win a load of races in the Mercedes.

it's hardly unusual for a top driver to start their career in lesser teams with little success and then 'suddenly' be right at the sharp end in a top car. Verstappen and Leclerc in Toro Rosso and Alfa respectively. (And going back, Alonso in a Minardi) Both of them put those lesser cars where they had no right to be, but then went to better teams and won races. That's not a 'problem'.

The talent rises to the top.

Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
Plus, did Hamilton's car just magic itself into being fastest? It's all about being able to express yourself and articulate what's right and what's wrong with the power delivery, suspension, rake of the car, tyres, aerodynamics and a thousand other tiny things.

No wonder Russell could just jump in and go fast.
